Charles’ legal career began prior to law school as a small firm paralegal in Oxford, MS. The client interaction and gratification Charles felt from advocating on their behalf drew him into the profession.

While attending the University of Mississippi School of Law, Charles worked for both the Mississippi Supreme Court and United Launch Alliance. He was also a member of the Elder Law Clinic and pro-bono initiative. These experiences provided Charles with a strong background in client relations, estate work, appellate practice and commercial transactions. He designed an internal arms control audit mechanism at ULA, while also dictating company COVID-19 policy during the height of the pandemic. Charles ensured ULA operations were COVID-19 compliant across all states of operation with local, state, federal and OSHA laws while also assisting employees with freedom of movement issues under quarantine and lockdown measures. Charles received his Juris Doctor, with a concentration in Air and Space Law, from the University of Mississippi in December of 2020.

During the course of his legal studies, Charles was heavily involved in academic writing. At the height of his tenure, Charles served as both the Managing Editor of the Journal of Space Law and Associate Article Editor for the Mississippi Law Journal concurrently. He has published pieces in both the Journal of Space Law and Space Review.  Charles began his legal career in Elba, Alabama at a firm he started with the mother of his child: Ellzey & Fillingim. There he used his previous experience with COVID policy at ULA to advocate for the religious freedom of both government and private employees during the COVID vaccine mandate. After a mutual parting of ways, he opened The Law Offices of Charles H. Ellzey, PLLC just a few blocks from the original E&F location next to Troy Bank & Trust.
